Afghanistan Health Survey Released

A new survey of Afghanistan's health system finds "substantial improvements in the health status of the people of Afghanistan after decades of conflict." The survey, commissioned by the government of Afghanistan, was conducted by researchers from Johns Hopkins University and Indian Institute of Health Management Research. A press release states:

The 9 July 2007 issue of the New Yorker features a lengthy article by Jon Lee Anderson on Afghanistan's opium economy. One section of the article discusses the risks and dilemmas associated with crop eradication efforts:
