The (HSRP) is an independent research centre affiliated with ’s in Vancouver, Canada.
The HSRP’s mission is to provide the research, data, and analysis that are necessary for evidence-based policy-making in the areas of conflict prevention, peacemaking, and peacebuilding.
Our Work
The HSRP’s research findings and analyses are published in the Human Security Report, associated Human Security Brief series, and the miniAtlas of Human Security. HSRP publications rely on quantitative data and use compelling graphics and simple prose to ensure that findings are accessible to non-specialists. The HSRP works closely with the Conflict Data Program at Uppsala University, Sweden, and the International Peace Research Institute, Oslo (PRIO), Norway.
The HSRP’s reputation for providing timely information on human security-related issues and research from around the world also derives from its web and email-based resources. There are over 11,000 subscribers to these resources from some 190 countries.
In recent years the HSRP has become a much-cited source of data and analysis for journalists working on global security issues. HSRP publications have received considerable attention in the international media with coverage in more than 60 countries and some 20 different languages. The Associated Press, Le Monde, and The Economist are just some of the prominent media outlets that have used and provided coverage of our publications.

About the Conflict Monitors
The Conflict Monitors are designed to provide concise and current information on peace and security issues on countries in crisis. At present, the site focuses on two countries: Afghanistan and Pakistan. The Monitors connect busy professionals and policy-makers with high quality research and analysis. Pairing the latest news with related research, the Monitors provide daily briefings on emerging issues and immediate access to the best available data and analysis on conflict-related issues in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Our staff monitor over 1,000 research and news sources and sort through the daily deluge of information to highlight newsworthy facts, analysis, and data. Links to a variety of sources are provided for each story or topic to highlight diverse perspectives including the views of populations directly affected by violence.
